State Sen. Tim Solobay has reintroduced a resolution calling for the Department of General Services to study whether it could convert more state vehicles to natural gas, which would spur fueling station development.

Private companies have been converting truck fleets to natural gas, but consumers have been hindered in adopting the technology because of a lack of refueling infrastructure, according to Solobay, D-Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Having more state vehicles running on domestically produced natural gas at historically low prices would encourage infrastructure development, according to a news release from Solobay.
