The Susquehanna Art Museum said it plans to break ground on its new facility May 7 and throw a block party in conjunction with the event.

The museum is building a new 24,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Third and Calder streets in midtown Harrisburg this year. The construction includes renovating the Keystone Trust building by 2014 to be the museum's lobby entrance.

The museum's $7 million project is expected to help invigorate midtown.

The groundbreaking and block party runs 4:30-8:30 p.m. with remarks from museum officials beginning at 5 p.m., according to the museum.
