The York-based York Symphony Orchestra has narrowed its choices to four for a new music director/conductor.

The four will each conduct a "Passing the Baton" audition performance during the 2013-14 season, and community members will be invited to cast votes, according to a YSO news release.

The finalists are:

Kyle Wiley Pickett, currently music director for California's North State Symphony as well as Alaska's Juneau Symphony Orchestra.

Lawrence Golan, whose engagements recently included cities throughout the United States and at international venues, such as a three-week tour of China with the American Festival Orchestra.

David Itkin, currently conductor and music director of Texas's Abilene Philharmonic and professor of music and director of orchestral studies at the University of North Texas College of Music.

Diane Wittry, currently the music director of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra.
