York County is taking over the management of the Marketway West building in downtown York, and the property has a targeted York County Sheriff's Office sale date of June 10, a spokesman said today.
The county sold the property, which used to house City of York government offices on Continental Square, to H.W. York Properties LLC in 2002, and the firm stopped making payments in June 2012, according to a news release. It owed the county more than $1.5 million as of January.
Through a court decision last month, the county is taking over management of the building, according to the release.
If the county comes to own the building through the sheriff's sale process, its intent would be to sell it, county spokesman Carl Lindquist said.
