Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center's neonatal intensive care unit has received Level 3 designation from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, which allows it to care for babies born at 32 weeks and younger.

The NICU, which opened in 2010 and was expanded in 2012, is the only one at a full-service hospital in Lancaster County with the designation.
