A Senior Helpers location that has been operating in the Ephrata area since January officially celebrated its grand opening this week.
The office, co-owned by Abigail Critchfield and Rebekah Terry, is in a leased 1,800-square-foot space at 1060 S. State St., Suite E., and has 25 employees. It offers nonmedical, in-home companion, personal care and dementia care services.
Critchfield, who has a master’s degree in occupational therapy and has worked in Lancaster and surrounding counties for 12 years, said Senior Helpers is a franchise started in Baltimore in 2002 by Ephrata High School graduate Tony Bonacuse.
“We’ve been friends with Tony for years and years,” Critchfield said. The conversation with him happened in May, she said, when she had the itch to take her career to the next level, and “We were open for clients in January.”
