The Bon-Ton Stores Inc.'s former president and CEO, Bud Bergren, has informed the company's board he will not stand for re-election to the board, according to a news release.

His term as a director expires as of this year's annual meeting of shareholders in June.

Bergren announced plans in 2011 to retire as president and CEO of Bon-Ton when the company hired a replacement.

In early 2012, Bon-Ton named Brendan Hoffman as its new president and CEO. The company also announced late last week that the board of directors unanimously elected to the board Jeffrey B. Sherman, effective immediately, acording to the release. Sherman had been president of The Echo Design Group Inc. since 2010.

Shares of Bon-Ton, with corporate offices in York County and Milwaukee, are traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol BONT.
