The Keystone Solar Project in southern Lancaster County was named a “project of distinction” last month.

The Solar Energy Industries Association and Solar Electric Power Association announced the award at the PV America East trade show in Philadelphia. The designation recognizes "major achievements in U.S. PV solar energy," the associations said.

Two other projects received the award, among more than 100 candidates: The Generating Clean Horizons Solar Project in Maryland and the Union County Solar Initiative in New Jersey. Nine projects received honorable mentions.

The Keystone installation incorporates about 20,000 solar panels in ground-mounted arrays in East Drumore Township. It officially came online in October and is the largest solar project in the state.
