PNC Financial Services Group Inc. has appointed E. Todd Chamberlain to be the next CEO of PNC Mortgage.

Chamberlain, now PNC Mortgage's president and chief operating officer, will succeed CEO Saiyid T. Naqvi when the latter retires at the end of April, the Pittsburgh-based financial services company said Wednesday.

Naqvi led a previous incarnation of PNC's mortgage operation that PNC sold in 2001. PNC acquired National City Mortgage, which became PNC Mortgage, when it absorbed National City Bank in the wake of the 2008 financial collapse; Naqvi returned in 2009 to lead it, PNC said.

Chamberlain has held his current titles since joining PNC in 2011. He previously was executive vice president at Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions Financial and managing executive of its residential mortgage division.

PNC is the parent company of PNC Bank and is one of the nation's largest financial services companies. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PNC.
