ICSA Labs certified to do EHR Stage 2 tests

By - Last modified: March 7, 2013 at 9:48 AM

Mechanicsburg-based ICSA Labs has received federal certification and begun testing electronic health records for Stage 2 compliance with meaningful use criteria.

The company is an independent division of Verizon.

Amit Trivedi, ICSA's program manager for health care, wrote in a blog post that the Stage 2 criteria are both more numerous and more rigorous than the Stage 1 criteria were.

"All of this points to an increase in time and resources necessary to prepare for and conduct" certification testing, Trivedi wrote, noting that complete EHR testing will now span two full days. "Applicants will be required to support more specific standards and implementation guides, enter more test data prior to and during the test sessions and become familiar with more test tools."

Medical providers can receive thousands of dollars in incentives over several years if they demonstrate that they are meeting the standards for electronic health records.
