'Tis the season for milestones, apparently.

Last Friday, the organization formerly known as Capital Hospital Service celebrated its 75th anniversary. You know it as Capital BlueCross, and you may see its celebratory flags flying throughout the year. It has grown from a few employees to more than 1,800.

Holy Spirit Heath System celebrated its 50th anniversary with two events — one Saturday for donors, and one Monday for media. HSHS also has grown considerably, now boasting more than 2,800 total employees.

Becker's Hospital Review chose to call this report "Health Insurance Giants Earn $12.69B in 2012." It's true, they did. But take a look -- those results are decidedly mixed. While they all made money, their year-over-year revenues range from up 33 percent to down 18 percent.
