Members 1st Federal Credit Union has become the first corporate investor of the Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

"That's the mission of Members 1st — to care for everyone in the community," said Debra McClain, the chamber's president.

Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County-based Members 1st has been a chamber member since 2010. Companies pay at least $2,500 to be corporate investors, according to the chamber website.

Members 1st has gone beyond money in its commitments, McClain said. The company is a consistent partner in supporting businesses and its own employees in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community, she said.

The chamber, with offices co-located in Harrisburg at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, was founded in 2007 and has grown to 182 members. Last year, membership grew 26 percent, McClain said.
