When you think of electronics, do you think of Central Pennsylvania? Maybe you should.
If you're staring at your smartphone or tablet right now, you're probably thinking that most electronics are made in Asia somewhere, such as in China or South Korea.
For large-quantity — we're talking hundreds of millions of units — consumer devices, that's true.
But if you're talking about industrial electronics — you know, the stuff that helps run an assembly line or provides communication links in a warehouse — you'd be surprised that many of them are still made here in the U.S. — and in the midstate.
York County-based Red Lion Controls Inc. is one of those companies. The smaller order numbers, job-specific custom designs and proximity to customers in the U.S. makes domestic production ideal, President Mike Granby said.
