Harrisburg-based Mid Atlantic BX, a trade association that tracks the construction industry in four states, reported 1,291 projects in its online plan room in January, a 49 percent increase over January 2012 and the highest ever for the month.

MABX had a record year in 2012 with 13,900 projects.

"The construction industry is bouncing back from the economic downturn a few years ago," said Chad Harvey, the association's executive director. "Additionally, we've significantly increased our project sources over the last 12 months."

The association gathers construction projection information from sources in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Northern Maryland.

MABX membership has access to those projects on the association's website through a program known as Tools, a cloud-based suite of construction project information software. A physical plan room is in the association's Harrisburg office.

As of Feb. 12, MABX already reported more than 1,800 projects for the year.
