PEOPLE: promotions, appointments and hires

Rapho Township-based Associated Builders & Contractors Inc.'s Keystone Chapter named Barry L. Miller chairman. He is CEO of Meadow Valley Electric Inc. Kenneth D. Schwebel and Donna J. Shoff were named to the executive committee. Schwebel is chief financial officer of The Witmer Group. He has a BA in finance and management from the University of Pittsburgh and a MBA from Lebanon Valley College. Shoff is president of H.L. Wiker Inc. Roger S. Brubaker, Doug Dvorchak, Michael B. Funck, Jonathan D. Holmes, Steve Muller, Kirby Sensenig and Kenneth L. Tyndale were named board members. Brubaker is president of Wilco Electric Inc.; Dvorchak is assistant vice president with Murray Securus and has a BA in public relations from Penn State University; Funck is vice president of preconstruction and estimating with Wohlsen Construction Co. and has BS degrees in architectural engineering and civil engineering from Drexel University; Holmes is a professional engineer with Gordon L. Brown & Associates Inc.; Muller is client development manager with Larson Design Group and has a BS in civil engineering from Penn State University and a master's in leadership studies from Lancaster Bible College; Sensenig is president of Richard L. Sensenig Co.; and Tyndale is president of K.L. Tyndale Inc. and has an associate degree from Williamsport Area Community College.

Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association, which represents private-sector waste haulers, landfill operators and recyclers, named Mark C. Pedersen president. He is a post-collections general manager with Republic Services, based at Modern Landfill in York. He is responsible for two landfills, four transfer stations and a gas-to-energy plant in eastern and Central Pennsylvania and the New York City area. He has a BS in environmental engineering from the University of Florida and a master's degree in environmental science and management from Duquesne University.

Downtown Inc named Ken Wesler and Patti Stirk board members. Wesler is president and CEO of the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center; Stirk is founder, president and CEO of Star Systems Engineering Inc.
