Cumberland County-based engineering company Gannett Fleming Inc. has acquired Griffin Engineering & Technical Services Inc. based in Morrisville, N.C.
The acquisition, which was finalized Jan. 14, will increase Gannett Fleming’s presence in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina, where it has a Raleigh office specializing in transportation design and environmental projects, the company said. The acquisition also broadens Gannett Fleming’s involvement in health care, pharmaceutical, biotech and commercial industries.
“The Griffin acquisition fulfills a key strategic need by offering our clients a broader array of building and system services from one source,” Robert M. Scaer, Gannett Fleming’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
The companies did not release financial details of the acquisition.
All Griffin Engineering employees will continue working for the company from their North Carolina office, Gannett Fleming said.
Griffin Engineering was founded in 2003 by Staci Griffin, president, and Jim Griffin, vice president and principal engineer. Jim Griffin, who has 20 years of engineering experience, will serve as vice president of engineering and technical services for Gannett Fleming. Staci Griffin will assist project managers in planning and other services.
