Johnson Controls' 1Q net income down 16.5 percent
Milwaukee-based manufacturer Johnson Controls Inc., with operations in the midstate, reported today net income for its first quarter of fiscal 2013 fell about 16.5 percent compared with the prior-year period, according to a news release.
Net income attributable to the company was about $354 million in the quarter, or 52 cents per diluted share, compared with $424 million, or 62 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period.
Income for the firm’s Automotive Experience business segment, which makes components for automobiles, fell 50 percent in the quarter, the release stated.
Income for its Building Efficiency segment, in which the company’s midstate operations are involved, was up 19 percent, and Power Solutions segment income was down 3 percent, according to the release.
The company has been considering building a new facility in Hopewell Township, York County..
Johnson Controls employs 1,000 people in York County and was evaluating its current York-area site for its viability for growth, the company said late last year.
