Republic Services consolidates in Lancaster

By , - Last modified: January 7, 2013 at 11:24 AM

Trash hauler Republic Services of Pennsylvania is consolidating its operations in Lancaster County, General Manager Mark Pergolese said this morning.

The company, which does business as York Waste Disposal Inc., is shutting down its leased location in East Hempfield Township and moving the 60 trucks and 75 employees based there to 1555 River Road in East Donegal Township, Pergolese said. The latter address is the headquarters of Edie Waste, which Republic absorbed in May.

About 20 vehicles and 15 employees already work out of the Edie Waste location, Pergolese said. Republic is eager "to begin realizing some of the synergies from the Edie acquisition," he said.

The switchover is scheduled for Jan. 21, Pergolese said. The company's York County division will not be affected, he said.

Republic Services of Pennsylvania is part of Republic Services Inc., a national waste hauler based in Phoenix. Republic Services Inc. shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RSG.
