Cumberland County-based The Hollinger Group has begun construction on a 58,000-square-foot medical rehabilitation and senior living community on Shepherdstown Road near Mechanicsburg.

The firm is partnering with Vibra Healthcare LLC for the VibraLife facility, which will include the 48-bed Vibra Rehabilitation Center and Vibra Senior Living, with 36 beds for personal care and 10 beds for secure memory care, according to a news release.

Total costs for the project are about $13.5 million, according to The Hollinger Group.

The memory care unit is for the safety and security of Alzheimer’s and memory-care-related residents and will involve them in activities to stimulate the mind and encourage socializing, the release stated.

The Hollinger Group is a provider of senior housing and healthcare services through a network of retirement campuses and skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care communities, according to the release.

Vibra Healthcare, also based in Cumberland County, is a specialty hospital provider focused developing, acquiring and operating freestanding critical acute care hospitals, outpatient physical rehabilitation centers and acute medical rehabilitation hospitals, the release stated.

VibraLife is expected to open in fall 2013 and employ nearly 100 people, the release stated.
