ExtraordinaryGive, Lancaster County's first 24-hour online giving challenge, raised nearly $1.69 million for county nonprofits Friday.

Nearly 200 local organizations participated in the challenge, surpassing both the original goal of 100 and the revised goal of 200.

The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster served as a 24-hour Giving Lounge during the event, with attractions and special prizes from area businesses for people who went there to make their online donations.

Lancaster County Community Foundation sponsored the challenge, with a goal of reaching new donors through the intense publicity surrounding the event, and getting donors accustomed to giving online.

LCCF donated $50,000 in prizes and incentives, in addition to an overall contribution of $250,000, to be split among all participating nonprofits by prorating their percentages of total funds raised in the challenge.

A list of the participating nonprofits, how much they received and how many donors they had is available here.
