Letter: Business Journal reader disappointed by 2012 Powerbook edition
What a disappointment it was to receive my Central Penn Business Journal (Nov. 2) and see only one female pictured in your list of the midstate's “most influential people.” We have so many talented women in this community, yet you seem to overlook them. How about Sen. Pat Vance from Cumberland County, who has been the crux vote on so many key issues this year? Or York Mayor Kim Bracey? Or Attorney General Linda Kelly, who oversaw one of the biggest prosecutions in Pennsylvania history?
Beyond politics, how about Sara Ganim, The Patriot-News' Pulitzer Prize winning reporter? Talk about a person of influence. Or how about Highmark's regional president, Kelly Lieblein, or Hamilton Health CEO Jeannine Peterson, who just brought to fruition a major new health center?
In education, this area is blessed to have Nancy Hall, head of Infinity Charter School, which was named a national Blue Ribbon School. Then there's Una Martone, head of Leadership Harrisburg Area, which has trained so many local leaders. Or what about philanthropists and volunteers Lois Grass and Marion Alexander, who have touched so many area organizations and businesses?
I could go on. You get the idea. What a shame the Central Penn Business Journal could not put together a more dynamic and diverse list of the midstate's power players.
