The Harrisburg Young Professionals completed a landscape renovation project Thursday of the State Street median between Front and Third streets.

The beautification effort included the installation of new plantings the length of the 6-foot-wide median. It features native, low-maintenance and aesthetically pleasing plantings, according to HYP, which help enhance the city's appearance and the vista from the west steps of the state Capitol to the Susquehanna River.

The organization raised $30,000 to revamp the median. Several local businesses and private citizens contributed to the cause.

"We were committed to seeing this project through in order to showcase the true beauty of our city," said HYP President Meron Yemane. "We're extremely pleased with the end result, but couldn't have done it without the generosity and support of our partners, private and public, and we sincerely thank them."
