Landis Communities and Welsh Mountain Home are nearing final approval on an affiliation deal, according to Larry Guengerich, Landis Communities director of communication and church relations.
Guengerich said closing of the deal is expected on or about Dec. 1, as the boards have agreed and it just needs approval from the state attorney general’s office and orphans’ court.
Under the agreement, Welsh Mountain Home will become an affiliate of Landis Communities, with access to resources including employee benefits, financial services, human resources and information technology.
Leaders also said the affiliation will better allow them to explore affordable housing options locally.
Landis Communities, based in Manheim Township, is a faith-based nonprofit formed in 2011 after nearly 50 years with Landis Homes. It encompasses the Landis Homes retirement community as well as home-care services, support services and the Steeple View Lofts project.
Welsh Mountain Home, based in Salisbury Township, is also a faith-based nonprofit personal care home.
