Torchbearer Sauces, the Cumberland County-based condiment company noted for its hot sauces, was successful in reaching its first fundraising goal of $16,000 using Kickstarter.com and is working toward the $60,000 it needs to get its own kitchen.

The company last month launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to expand the business, including sales into new geographic areas and moving into its own kitchen space. Torchbearer hit that first funding level two weeks ahead of the Oct. 24 deadline and as of Monday had raised nearly $20,000 using Kickstarter's funding platform.

The money it has already raised will allow Torchbearer to make a pallet of each of its most popular sauces so the company can expand its sales, co-owner David Lynch said. In the past three years, Torchbearer has seen its sales grow tenfold, he said.
