Carlisle resident Theresa Messano has launched an effort to save The Green Room Bistro & Juice Bar with a Nov. 3 benefit event aimed at keeping the financially troubled restaurant afloat.

Green Room owner Patrick Andrews announced last week that the restaurant, which focuses on local, organic foods, had run into hard times and would likely close in coming weeks without a sale or investors to back it.

“The Green Room is a restaurant I’ve always loved,” Messano said. “Patrick’s heart is in the right place with providing good food, and a lot of people here feel that way, too.”

Messano, co-owner of the nonprofit Planet Love Joy, is planning the benefit event for 6-10 p.m. next Saturday at the YWCA Carlisle at 301 G St. in the borough. The event will include local bands and a silent auction to raise money for the Green Room, she said.

The goal is to raise between $5,000 and $6,000 to give the Green Room immediate financial relief so it can stay open, said Messano, who also started a Facebook page dedicated to the effort.
