Reading-based Liberty Environmental Inc. has acquired Alternative Environmental Solutions Inc. in Lancaster in an effort to expand its environmental consulting and engineering practice in Central Pennsylvania.

Environmental professionals at AES have been asked to stay on, and the firm's existing office at 480 New Holland Ave., Suite 8203, will be maintained, Liberty said.

In addition to the site assessment and water resources services offered by AES, Liberty offers expertise in air quality management, regulatory compliance and environmental engineering.

"We're excited to build our presence as a trusted advisor for environmental affairs in Central Pennsylvania," James Cinelli, the firm's principal, said in a statement.

The firm now employs 26 people. It also has offices in Philadelphia and Atlanta.
