Lebanon County-based logistic services company DRT Transportation plans to more than double its midstate staff over the next several years after moving into a new office building in the spring, President Robert Kemp said today at the groundbreaking ceremony for that facility.

DRT is building a 6,000-square-foot office building on Helen Drive in North Cornwall Township’s Tuck Business Park, Kemp said. Arthur Funk & Sons Construction Inc. is building the facility for DRT. Construction should be complete and DRT into its new offices by March 1.

“Right now, we’re on top of each other at the current office,” Kemp said.

DRT employs 20 people at its location in West Cornwall Township, where it provides logistics services such as trucking brokerage, supply chain design, warehousing and vendor management, Kemp said. The company plans to grow to about 45 people during the next two or three years.

The company could conceivably be up to 80 employees total in the near future, Kemp said. DRT has offices in Atlanta, Houston and Knoxville, Tenn. It’s planning to open offices in Chicago and Los Angeles, too.

DRT has been growing fast and consistently since it opened in 2007. This year it’s on track to generate revenue of about $22 million, Kemp said. It’s been growing about 40 percent per year.

The company has succeeded through aggressive sales, adding new customers and retaining existing ones, he said.

“When we have an opportunity, we take it,” Kemp said.

He also owns K&R Sales Inc., another logistics management and sales firm based in Lebanon that’s been operating since 2003.
