Bon-Ton reports Sept. sales increase, Ohio store closing
The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. recorded a comparable-store sales increase of 0.6 percent for September, according to a news release.
The department store business, with corporate offices in York County and Milwaukee, logged a slightly higher total sales increase of 0.7 percent to $288.9 million in the five weeks that ended Sept. 29, the release stated.
Comparable-store sales recorded for its year so far were down 0.1 percent and total sales were down 0.2 percent, according to the release.
The company also announced last week that it will close its Elder-Beerman store in Springfield, Ohio, when its lease there is up at the end of January. It made the decision based on continual asset review, according to a release.
