Hair Direct Inc. is planning a move to East Lampeter Township.
Spokesman Andy Kulp said the 18-year-old company is leasing the property "to expand our office, call center, salon and warehouse facilities, and to bring them all under one roof. We've outgrown our office in Bainbridge, Pa., and are filling up our warehouse in Elizabethtown."
Kulp said Hair Direct chose Lancaster for several reasons, one of which was that it presented "the least disruptive and most convenient commute for the roughly 45 present employees."
"Greenfield also offers great access to major routes, and puts us within a reasonable drive from Philadelphia, where we hope to expand our marketing efforts," Kulp said. "Just as importantly, we will no doubt need additional warehouse space in the future, and the new space is convenient to many warehouse prospects.
"Lastly, of the four counties we considered — Lancaster, York, Lebanon and Dauphin — Lancaster seems like it will continue to be the healthiest social and economic match for our company. We are optimistic about the county's future business climate. And we might have a weakness for shoo-fly pie...."
Kulp said Hair Direct may continue to use its current facility during the transition, but ultimately wants to sell it.
