United Kingdom-based BAE Systems plc, which has a site for its military vehicle work in York County, is in discussions to possibly combine its business with European aerospace and defense firm EADS N.V., according to a statement on its website.

Collaboration between the two firms has a long history, and they are “currently partners in a number of important projects,” according to the statement.

Possibly combining the two “complementary businesses” offers opportunity for greater innovation, financial stability over the long term and extended market presence, according to the statement.

EADS is the parent of Airbus among its other business lines, according to its website.
