Candlewood Suites to break ground in TecPort centerJason Scott
Site work for a four-story, 71-room Candlewood Suites hotel is expected to begin this week in the TecPort Business Center in Swatara Township, according to Crossgates Inc., developer of the campus.
“It is very encouraging to see new development at the business center,” said Matthew Crocker, the company’s senior vice president.
The hotel, which the township approved in December, is slated to be built on a 2-acre lot along Port View Drive. It is part of the third phase of development in the 102-acre business campus, which is adjacent to the Harrisburg Mall.
A building permit is still needed, said Jacqueline Bertolette, the township’s planning and zoning director.
The owner of the hotel pad is TecPort Hospitality LLC, based in Hampden Township. The listed manager, Aman Parekh, was not immediately available for comment on a timetable for construction.
The deed on the property was transferred earlier this month from a Lebanon County-based real estate group, according to Dauphin County court records. TecPort Hospitality also took out a $4.6 million mortgage on the property, records show.
