By - Last modified: August 24, 2012 at 9:45 AM

Alexander Building Construction Co., a construction management firm with offices in Harrisburg and State College, recently completed a three-story addition for Geisinger Health System in Columbia County.

The addition added more than 37,000 square feet to the Buckhorn Office Building. The project also included a three-story atrium connecting the existing building with the addition, an expansive roof skylight and underground rainwater collection system.

In addition, the parking lot was expanded and a walking trail surrounding the facility was installed as part of the health system's employee wellness efforts.

Construction began last August and was completed in 10 months, according to a company news release.

Alexander, which is a subsidiary of Allentown-based Butz Enterprises Inc., built the original 94,000-square-foot building for Geisinger in 2009.
