Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air coming to HIA

Harrisburg International Airport and Allegiant officials announced the new deal this morning.

Allegiant will add flights to Orlando and Tampa in the fall. The Tampa Bay region is a new, nonstop flight destination.

Allegiant trades it shares on the Nasdaq under the ticket symbol ALGT.

Here are some facts about the airline, according to a fact sheet on its website:

*Parent company Allegiant Travel Co. is based in Las Vegas.
*It operates a fleet of 58 MD-80 aircraft and 4 Boeing 757-200 aircraft. It owns 2 additional 757-200 aircraft, which are on lease to a European carrier.
*It has operation hubs in Bellingham International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Oakland International Airport, Orlando-Sanford International Airport, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, Punta Gorda Airport and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
