An official ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the 1500 Project in Midtown Harrisburg has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 23.

The six-story 1500 Project is a mixed-use condominium and retail building at North Sixth and Reily streets. It will feature first-floor commercial and retail space, with 43 condos on the next five floors.

The building offers studios, one- and two-bedroom units and lofts — most with private balconies and others with garden terraces. Susquehanna Township-based Vartan Group Inc., one of the city's largest landholders, is the developer of the $13.6 million project.

The 1500 also boasts roof-top gardens, underground parking spaces and pet-wash facilities. Prices start at $149,000, said Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, the building's marketing agency.

The Midtown structure is across the street from the site of a future federal courthouse project in an area prime for new construction and redevelopment. Vartan owns several neighboring properties and has plans to build new office space.

Access to and from other parts of Harrisburg is improving in that area, known as the northern gateway. The city is widening North Seventh Street to four lanes from two and adding sidewalks, lighting, benches and sewer infrastructure.

The Maclay Street bridge and the intersection of North Seventh and Maclay streets also are being improved.
