Construction is well under way at Community Energy's 6-megawatt Keystone Solar Farm array in Lancaster County's East Drumore Township, billed as the largest such project in the state.
Exelon Generation has contracted to purchase 7.5 million kilowatt-hours a year for 15 years, the bulk of the project's estimated 8 million kilowatt-hour annual output. Other customers committed to purchasing a share of the output include Franklin & Marshall College, Millersville University and the Philadelphia Phillies, Community Energy said.
The racks for the panels are completely in place, and about one quarter of the panels have been installed, Community Energy Solar Vice President Thomas Tuffey said. The rest should be installed over the next two weeks.
"I think we're pretty much on schedule," he said.
Community Energy is not disclosing the project cost, Tuffey said.
