Gov. Tom Corbett last week honored two state Department of Transportation employees for their roles in developing the ePermitting process for highway occupancy permits.
The system Glenn Rowe and Roger Riley worked to create is saving Pennsylvania businesses time and money, Corbett said.
"Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive," he said.
The ePermitting system recently won a regional Best Use of Innovation Award from the Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, PennDOT said.
PennDOT issues about 15,000 highway occupancy permits a year; the permits are needed for any building project that requires access to state roads.
