JLG lands $633M contract to supply DOD, fed agencies
Fulton County-based access equipment manufacturer JLG Industries Inc., which has a Shippensburg-area facility, has received a five-year, $633 million contract from the Department of Defense for commercial material-handling equipment.
The contract will have JLG supply the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and federal civilian agencies with various material handlers through June 2017, according to the department. JLG facilities around Pennsylvania, as well as in Ohio and France, will be involved in fulfilling the contracts.
Company executives did not immediately return calls for comment on the contract.
During the past several years, Oshkosh's Access Equipment division that includes JLG has helped the company keep its head above water with revenue and income gains while other divisions posted losses. Oshkosh executives have praised the division for that role. In June, the company promoted Wilson R. Jones, the Access Equipment president, to be Oshkosh's president and chief operating officer starting in August.
