A service that writes grants for organizations has a new home in the YWCA Lancaster.

Lancaster Grantwriting Collaborative started in 2009 with a Lancaster County Community Foundation Innovation Fund grant. It had been operating at SouthEast Lancaster Health Services but moved to the YWCA as of July 1.

For $10,000 a year, organizations can join the collaborative and have a professional writer conduct research and write a minimum of 10 grants a year for them. The collaborative is open to nonprofits anywhere in the United States whose mission is consistent with YWCA values: to promote peace, justice and dignity for all. Businesses that meet that standard also will be considered.

So far, grant applications written by the collaborative have raised more than $341,000 for small and mid-size organizations from foundations, corporations and government funders, according to a news release.

Angie Lightfoot Roth, chief financial officer for the YWCA Lancaster, said the collaborative started with one grant-writer. Now, she said, it has two who work with the member organizations to create case statements, research viable funders and submit tailored grant proposals.

For more information about the Grantwriting Collaborative, contact Angie Lightfoot Roth at 717-393-1735, ext. 240.
