Harrisburg U. adds vice president to manage centers

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology said today it has added an associate vice president to manage its growing list of university centers and coordinate their activities with outside businesses and groups.

Dale Hamby joins HU in that new role and will not only oversee existing centers, but also will help it develop new centers in areas such as energy technology, entrepreneurship and applied science, according to the university.

HU’s centers help connect students and faculty to companies in the private sector for research and development opportunities. The centers are:

• Government Technology Institute

• Geospatial Technology Center

• Food Science and Technology Center

• Center for Advanced Entertainment and Learning Technologies

Hamby has a diverse background in education and sciences, including teaching at Alexandria, Va.’s Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He also was a professor at the U.S. Military Academy and Colorado State University. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, a bachelor’s of general studies in computer systems analysis from Hawaii’s Roosevelt University and an MBA from Harvard.
