A trio of business partners is working to put another microbrewery in York's downtown and hopes to open within the next year in the former Met-Ed steam plant property, a co-owner said.
Ryan Johnstonbaugh said he’s had an on-again, off-again relationship with craft beer. It led to home brewing and eventually to forming Crystal Ball Brewing Co. with Jesse James DeSalvo and Ashley Garvick, who are fellow Spring Grove Area High School graduates.
Attendees at the York County Heritage Trust’s Microbrew Fest last month enjoyed what the business has developed, Johnstonbaugh said.
Crystal Ball is putting together its business plan and assessing options toward its goal of occupying space in the steam plant on West Philadelphia Street, he said.
Johnstonbaugh said he’s not worried about the craft beer scene in the city getting too crowded. Customers of microbreweries love variety, he said.
“It’s not a Coke or Pepsi industry,” Johnstonbaugh said.
