Trucking firm A&S buys York County's Kinard
A&S Services Group, a Maryland-based trucking, warehousing and logistics company with a midstate location, announced today it has acquired York County-based Kinard Trucking Inc. and its affiliates.
The companies are not releasing the acquisition’s details. Kinard’s regional short-haul, warehousing and logistics services are a strong fit with A&S’s growth in the Mid-Atlantic, A&S President Ken Buck said in a statement.
West Manchester Township-based Kinard was started in 1926 as a two-truck operation hauling potatoes from local farms and was first incorporated in 1970 as Richard L. Kinard Inc.
In the late 1980s, the company changed its name and by 2002 had added more than 160,000 square feet of warehousing space, as well as a rapidly growing truck fleet. By 2008, more than 300 people worked for Kinard, and the company had revenue in excess of $45 million. Today, the company has more than 200 trucks and 1,100 varied trailers.
Hunt Valley, Md.-based A&S employs nearly 500 people with 300 trucks, 1,500 trailers and 420,000 square feet of warehousing among four warehouses in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
