The West Shore Chamber of Commerce said today its president and CEO, Kathleen Fey, has resigned from her position, according to a statement from the Cumberland County group.

Fey had been at the helm of the Hampden Township-based West Shore Chamber since December 2009, after the retirement of its longtime leader Ed Messner. Fey was Kathleen Mangan until her marriage last year. Her last day at the chamber will be July 19.

In the past two-and-a-half years, Fey accomplished several noteworthy changes for the West Shore Chamber, including:

• Guiding the creation of Chamber Advantage, a for-profit subsidiary of the chamber to offer health insurance and other services to its members.

• Helping establish the West Shore Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Junior Leadership Central PA program it supports.

• Strengthened partnerships with other Cumberland County chambers, Cumberland Area Economic Development Corp. and the World Trade Center of Central PA.

"She did a good job, she really did," said Gary Scicchitano, the chamber's board chairman and vice president of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central PA Inc.

Fey is leaving for other opportunities, Scicchitano said, but declined to go into detail. Fey said this afternoon that she was not at liberty to discuss her future plans.

The chamber has formed a search committee to find a new president and CEO, and could make an appointment soon, Scicchitano said.

Editor's note: This story has been modified from a previous version to correct the date Fey began as president/CEO.
