Construction

FirstEnergy Co., parent company of Metropolitan Edison Co., named Haller Enterprises of Manheim Township its 2011 Top Performing HVAC Installation Contractor in recognition of its high-efficiency HVAC installations, hard work and customer satisfaction.

Rapho Township-based Keystone Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. gave Keystruct Construction Inc. of York County a Diamond safety award. The Diamond designation is new and represents the pinnacle of safety performance in the construction industry. It examines a company’s safety performance over a three-year period, and it recognizes exceptional commitment to a safe workplace. Herr & Sacco Inc. of Lancaster County, Quandel Enterprises Inc. of Dauphin County and Vision Mechanical Inc. of Berks County received Platinum awards. Education

Lower Paxton Township-based Dauphin County Technical School named the following Students of the Month for March based on grades, attendance, behavior and attitude: Alexis Markle, ninth grade, child care; Ian Via-Minnich, 10th grade, drafting and design technology; Kaitlyn Guzzo, 11th grade, medical occupations technology; Austin Hutchins, 12th grade, culinary arts; and Colonial Park Rotary Student of the Month, Katherine Avila, 12th grade, graphic arts. Students of the Month for April were Jonathan Kinney, ninth grade, precision metals; Jerrick Barber, 10th grade, marketing and entrepreneurship; Courtney Hetrick, 11th grade, electronics technology; Nate Loyd, 12th grade, culinary arts; and Colonial Park Rotary Student of the Month, Jeremy Miller, 12th grade, HVAC.

 

Health care

Denver-based Samaritan Institute of Denver accredited the Samaritan Counseling Center of Manheim Township through 2015. Accreditation indicates that a center offers professional services with a framework of quality organizational, administrative and financial practices.

 

History

Oral History in the Mid-Atlantic Region gave Pamela C. Whitenack its 2012 Forrest C. Pogue Award in recognition of outstanding and continuing contributions to the field of oral history. Forrest C. Pogue pioneered the use of oral history in combat during World War II and was for many years the director of the George C. Marshall Foundation and the Marshall Library on the campus of Virginia Military Institute. Whitenack has been employed by the Hershey Community Archives in Derry Township for 27 years. The archives has more than 500 interviews in its oral history collection and is a primary resource for studying and understanding of Milton S. Hershey, his vision, his legacy and the community.

 

Hospitality

Arlington, Va.-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts Inc. named Mark Moosic 2011 General Manager of the Year in its full-service division in recognition of meeting key performance targets and fostering Interstate’s corporate values of respect, teamwork, integrity, community, performance and innovation. He is general manager of the Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and has been employed with Interstate for 31 years. He is on the boards of the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Lancaster Hotel & Motel Association.
