Swedish Motors to open branch

Marietta-based Swedish Motors Inc. will open its first satellite location on Saturday, company President Rich Kushner said.

The foreign car sales and service company has moved the majority of its for-sale vehicles to a 1.2-acre site at 1256 River Road in East Donegal Township, Kushner said. The property is just over half a mile from Swedish Motors’ headquarters at 7 N. Decatur St. in the borough.

Moving its inventory allowed Swedish Motors to expand its Marietta repair area, adding four service bays to the existing nine.

Swedish Motors had been looking to expand for several years, Kushner said. When the new location, a foreclosure, became available, the deal was too good to pass up, he said. The building on the property began as a bakery and most recently housed an electrical contracting company, he said.

The company will use existing staff at the site and does not plan to add jobs, Kushner said.

Swedish Motors opened 31 years ago, initially selling Volvos and Saabs. The company has since added Audi, BMW, Mini and Volkswagen lines, Kushner said.
