York-based online marketplace The Usic goes live

By , - Last modified: April 26, 2012 at 3:04 PM

The Usic, a York-based online marketplace linking artists, musicians and small businesses, went live today to the general public.

Usic is the brainchild of John McElligott and Mike McHenry, two York County natives who created the website as a place where musicians and other artists can search for services to help them launch and sustain their budding careers.

Small businesses, including recording studios, hair salons, marketing firms and photography studios, can use the site to find new business or fill downtime. Usic then uses social media so artists and businesses can promote each other.

McElligott and McHenry have been entertaining the idea of an artists' marketplace for several years. They started working last year to launch the site.
