Two companies with presences in the midstate this week announced earnings for the most recent quarter, while a Lancaster-based company reported a loss.
Burnham Holdings Inc. in Lancaster County on Monday announced a net loss of $947,000 for the first quarter 2012 ending April 1. Its loss per diluted share was 21 cents, compared with 22 cents for the same quarter in 2011. The company posted a net loss of $984,000 for the first quarter in 2011.
Analysts' estimates were not available.
Burnham is the parent company of 14 subsidiaries manufacturing boilers and related heating, ventilation and air conditioning products. Its shares are traded over the counter on Pink Sheets under the ticker symbol BURCA.
Florida-based Health Management Associates Inc., owner of three Central Pennsylvania hospitals, on Monday reported net income of $44.6 million for the first quarter ending March 31, compared with net income of $62.1 million for the same quarter in 2011.
Almost $7 million of its 2012 quarter income was attributable to noncontrolling interests, according to the report. About $6.6 million also was attributable to noncontrolling interests for the year-ago quarter.
Its earnings per diluted share were 15 cents for the first quarter, compared with 22 cents for the same quarter last year.
Analysts had estimated 23 cents per diluted share, according to Yahoo Finance.
Health Management owns Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Warwick Township, Lancaster County; Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Lancaster and Carlisle Regional Medical Center in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County. Its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol HMA.
TE Connectivity Ltd., a Switzerland-based company with a midstate manufacturing presence, today reported second-quarter earnings.
The company reported net income of $258 million for the quarter ending March 30, with earnings per diluted share of 60 cents, compared with $300 million for the same quarter in 2011, with earnings per share at 67 cents.
Analysts' estimates were 66 cents per share, according to Yahoo Finance.
Shares of TE Connectivity are traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol TEL.
