This week, the focus in Hershey isn’t on chocolate.
April 22-28 is spring Restaurant Week for nine Hershey Entertainment & Resorts eateries, and that means there are some pretty sweet lunch and dinner deals for you to enjoy. You can indulge in two-course lunches for $15 and three-course dinners for $30.
My first stop will be Devon Seafood Grill for the grilled salmon panzanella. This version of panzanella is satisfyingly more a spinach salad than a bread salad, accented by Montrachet goat cheese, balsamic roasted onions, ripe tomatoes and, of course, a generous portion of Devon’s mesquite-grilled salmon. The masterpiece is drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and basil oil.
I’d also recommend going next door to Houlihan’s, where two people can dine for only $30. Get the out-of-this-world white bean and artichoke hummus, sesame chicken lettuce wraps or the hearty down-home pot roast. The mini cappuccino cake also is advisable for dessert.
If you’re playing 18 holes at Hershey Links, stop by the Highlands Grill for a little pre- or post-game sustenance. An artichoke heart and prosciutto flatbread might do just the trick. Evening diners will drool over the pan-seared pork tenderloin with hunter sauce and chive spatzle, as well as the grilled rockfish with blood orange buerre blanc and jasmine rice.
At the Hershey Lodge, The Bears’ Den menu offerings will include casual fare like Bavarian hot pretzels and the smokehouse chipotle burger, while the Hershey Grill will kick things up a few notches with its cocoa-chili crusted ahi tuna and braised veal cheek ravioli.
Have you ever had Cornish hen? You can at The Forebay, which also is at the Lodge. The roasted Cornish hen is accompanied by sweet shallot chutney and baby red potatoes. But please save room for dessert. I’d go with the triple chocolate cake, scandalously paired with strawberry-rhubarb compote.
Up on the hillside at The Hotel Hershey, the culinary assortment will be equally diverse and delicious. At the eternally classy Circular Dining Room, the smoked sea trout with fiddlehead ferns, white asparagus and rye gnocchi is sure to send your taste buds into overtime.
For modern Italian flair, nearby Trevi 5 knows how do things right. Start with the fritto misto of seafood and veggies. Then move on to polenta and prosciutto-stuffed chicken breast and finish out your meal with the milk chocolate praline torte and a dollop of vanilla gelato.
Last but not least, Harvest warms the heart not just because of its delectable dishes but also since it’s a dining experience created from local ingredients. The Virginia ham-wrapped asparagus with local Boursin cheese, Landisdale Farms lettuce and spicy mustard vinaigrette will appropriately tease your palate. And the honey-and-sage-glazed pork T-bone with goat cheese grits will continue that dance long into the night.
