New ownership works to rebrand Roosevelt Tavern
The Roosevelt Tavern in York is working to establish itself as a destination for locally sourced food after it reopened a few months ago, one of the new owners said.
The restaurant at North Penn and West Philadelphia streets dates to 1946 and was up for sale last year. Byron Kehr and his wife, Lauren, purchased the business and reopened it Dec. 1, Kehr said.
The restaurant has scheduled an invitation-only grand opening event for Monday to ramp up promoting the business in the community, according to York-based Rock Commercial Real Estate, which brokered the deal.
Having local food as a draw is important for a business that is a couple blocks outside the main restaurant areas of downtown York, said Kehr, who originally is from York County and has worked in the industry for nearly 30 years.
There is a growing appetite for this type of offering, he said.
