Strites' Orchard, Lititz group share $92K in grants

Efforts in Dauphin and Lancaster counties will receive portions of $92,000 in grant money to support farm stands and farmers markets in the state, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

The money comes from the Direct Farm Sales Grant program funded by the federal Specialty Crop Block Grant program and is going to 31 businesses in 22 counties, the department said.

Lower Swatara Township-based Strites' Orchard Farm Market and Bakery is receiving $3,000 for a specialty crop marketing campaign, according to a news release.

Venture Lititz is receiving $3,750 for Downtown Lititz Farmers Market promotion and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program implementation, the release stated.

Recipients must provide at least a 25 percent match, according to the news release.
