The Penn Township supervisors on Thursday night approved construction plans for a second warehouse at Key Logistics Park that could bring 200 jobs to Cumberland County when the tenant company moves in next year.
California-based Panattoni Development Co. plans to build the 1.5 million-square-foot warehouse in the logistics park at 952 Centerville Road with site work beginning by Nov. 1, Penn Township Chairman Gary Martin said. The company needs to complete bonding paperwork for the project and conduct a traffic study before opening next year, he said.
London-based Unilever could move its midstate warehousing operations, including about 450 existing jobs, from a South Middleton Township warehouse to the new site, Martin said last week. Unilever declined to comment.
Key Logistics Park has one warehouse with about 1 million square feet of space. Florida-based Office Depot Inc. opened a distribution hub in about half the building last year. Plans for the park originally had three warehouses with more than 3 million square feet in 2007, but those have since been scaled back, Martin said.
